Good Luck to All Our Steelers Teams – Summer Season Tips Off Tomorrow!
As we head into the Summer Season, our Club President Adrian Nyariri wanted to share a few words — and a bit about himself - to wish every Steelers player, coach, and family the very best for the months ahead.
“I just want to wish all our teams the best of luck this season. Whether you’re stepping onto the court for the first time or returning for your tenth, remember - play hard, support each other, and most importantly, enjoy it. This game prepares you for life.”
Now, a little about the man behind the message
Adrian’s been part of the Steelers family for years — first as a proud parent watching his two daughters play, and now as President for the past three seasons. While he couldn’t coach on Saturdays, he wanted to give back to the club that had given his family so much joy… and we’re all the better for it.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Adrian was a competitive swimmer (and even held a national record!) — but basketball has always been his true sporting love. He played through high school and still shoots hoops with his kids whenever he can.
When asked about his basketball idols, there was no hesitation:
“Chicago Bulls all the way — I grew up idolising Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. That 90s Bulls dynasty was something special.”
And his most memorable basketball moment? Watching Jordan’s legendary “Flu Game” in the 1997 Finals:
“He was barely able to stand, scored 38 points, and still led the Bulls to victory. Pure heart and determination — it still gives me goosebumps.”
When asked what he loves most about the Steelers, Adrian didn’t hesitate:
“The sense of belonging. Everyone genuinely cares about each other and shares a love for the game.”
His vision for the club this season?
“A place where people feel connected, love the game of basketball, and can be anyone they want to be.”
Game-day fuel: Double espresso, no hesitation.
Advice for our young players: “Enjoy the game, play hard, and have fun — this game prepares you for life.”
From Adrian and the entire committee — good luck Steelers! Let’s make this summer one to remember.
