Meet Steelers Vice President & Coach of 8 Years
We hope everyone’s first round of the season went well - it’s been great seeing our Steelers back on court, smiling, competing, and cheering each other on.
This week, we’re introducing someone who we all know wears a lot of hats around the community -
our Vice President, Scott Edgcumbe
Scott’s been part of the Steelers family for eight years, coaching girls’ teams from U8s through to U16s - and for the past three years, helping lead the club as VP. With three daughters all proudly wearing the Steelers uniform, Scott’s passion for the game (and for the community) runs deep.
He first joined when his eldest daughter wanted to play basketball and like so many of us, he was hooked from there. A lifelong basketball lover himself, he played for the Wantirna Wasps from U8s all the way through to seniors.
His favourite players? LeBron, for his longevity and leadership, and Steph Curry, for the way he’s transformed the modern game. Scott reckons there’s a bit to learn from both - LeBron’s consistency and grit, and Steph’s fearless creativity - traits that inspire how he approaches coaching and leadership both on and off the court.
When he’s not at the courts, you’ll probably find the Edgcumbe crew waterskiing in Yarrawonga, soaking up family time, or — more locally — Scott at Mullum with his strong skinny latte (the café team knows his order off by heart ).
Scott says his favourite moments aren’t the big wins — it’s those little ones:
“Seeing a kid hit that winning shot or make the big defensive play — that’s what it’s all about.”
Here’s what Scott had to say about what makes the Steelers community special:
“The Park Orchards community is really something unique — you don’t realise how good it is until you’re part of it. The Steelers are a massive part of that.”
We’re so lucky to have Scott helping lead the way — building connections, supporting our programs, and reminding us all that sport is about fun, learning, and community.
